Values & Ethos

Our school is built on respect, responsibility, and resilience. We challenge our students to step out of their comfort zone both in the classroom and on the sports field to develop the confidence and character needed for a global future.

Beyond the Classroom

We pride ourselves on modern learning environments that foster critical thinking and collaboration. We work closely with Marlborough Girls' College to offer senior interchange classes, providing students with a wider range of subjects and a mixed learning environment. Whether your goal is University Entrance or vocational training, our diverse curriculum ensures every student finds their pathway to success.

Cultural Opportunities

Te Reo Māori (Year 9 to Year 13)

Te reo Māori is the key to understanding the Māori world. Te Reo Māori lays the foundation of communicative skills and cultural knowledge to enable students to be bilingual and bicultural with an appreciation and consideration of a Māori worldview.

Te Waharoa course enables students to embrace and learn about mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge systems) through English, with some terminology in te reo Māori.

Students choose their area of study which can include whakairo (carving designs), Māori performing arts, tikanga Māori (Māori protocols), Māori history.

Te Ao Haka (NCEA and Term 4 Year 10)

Te Ao Haka is a culturally responsive art form, providing opportunities for all ākonga to engage in Māori culture, language and traditional practice.

Pasifika dance and song

Through Pasifika dance and song, we ensure that our teaching, programme structure, and overall approach are guided by a Pasifika lens and are culturally responsive to the identities, languages, and cultures of our students.
